So who has gotten the ANIMANIACS theme song stuck in their head since hearing this news?
IndieWire reports an Animaniacs reboot is in the early phases of development over at Amblin TV and Warner Bros., with Steven Spielberg producing. The show has enjoyed a fresh wave of success after making its debut on Netflix, so it’s not much of a surprise to hear it could be getting a new lease on life. The show featured enduring characters such as Pinky and the Brain, and is one of those rare shows to crossover and appeal to kids and young adults — so you’d imagine there’s even more of a market for it in today’s nostalgia-fest.
There’s no word on where the new version could air, but it stands to reason a lot of networks would be interested. Not to mention Netflix, which is reaping the benefits of the original run right now.
